About the ProcedureDuring our complimentary consultation, your laser technician will assess the area of concern, discuss all the details of your treatment and give pre- and post-treatment recommendations. At this time a patch test on the desired area would be performed at the appropriate laser parameters. The patch test is important in order to achieve the best laser hair removal results and at the same time ensure safety of the skin. Prior to a treatment, all surface hair is removed by shaving to prevent any damage to the skin. The laser emits a near-infrared laser light that is absorbed by the melanin pigment of the hair inside the hair follicle. The laser light energy is then transferred into the heat in the hair shaft, which successfully destroys the hair root area.

Laser Hair Removal FAQ's
A: Try to avoid sun exposure. Hair can be more aggressively (and therefore more effectively) treated without a recent tan. We recommend to wear a reputable sunblock with not less than SPF30 and if possible cover the treatment area with the clothes. For clients who like swimming the sunblock has to be waterresistant (look for sunblocks marked "for sports" or for "watersports"). Having hair is essential to having a successful treatment. You can not wax, tweeze, thread or have electrolysis for 4-6 weeks before a treatment. The best way to manage hair before you start laser hair removal is to shave, trim, or use depilatory cream. Prior to a laser hair removal treatment the hair has to be clean shaved on the day of the appointment. Q: What does laser hair removal feel like? A: Most people describe the feeling similar to a pinch of a rubber band or a prickly sensation. Although pain is an individual feeling, most clients express the sensation as tolerable. Q: What should I expect after a treatment? A: After the treatment the skin may be red and bumpy similar to "goosebumps". This is absolutely normal. Post treatment, we recommend protecting the area from the sun and avoid any additional heat to the area, as well as avoiding activities such as exercise, saunas, and other activities which may irritate the area or induce heat for 24-48 hours immediately after treatment. The area should be moisturized with a soothing cream (for example Aloe Vera gel) and cleansed with a mild soap as advised by our laser technicians. Q: How many treatments will I need? A: Hair growth cycle has several phases. The anagen phase is the active growth phase when hair contains the largest amounts of melanin (dark pigment) and this phase is the laser's target. From scientific studies we learned that human skin contains approximately 20-30% of anagen hairs at a time, and these anagen hairs are affected during each treatment. Most clients will require a minimum of four treatments. Clients with finer hair and dark skin clients may require 6-8 treatments. If you suffer from a hormone imbalance your treatments may be ongoing since the hormones are known to stimulate the development of coarser darker hair in the areas where tiny baby hair is typical. To have effective treatments it is important that they be sequenced. Every client's expectations of hair loss are different. Some may be happy with 50-60% loss and others will want to continue until they reach their maximum loss of 80-95%. Q: How long should I wait between treatments? A: Waiting time may be different for different people. In general the hair growth cycle for the face and neck areas is shorter than that for the body areas so it is recommended to repeat treatments after 4-6 weeks for neck and face areas and 8-10 weeks for body areas. Q: How do I manage the hair between treatments? A: You should not have much hair to manage since it sheds gradually during the weeks following your laser hair removal session. However if you need to, shaving or trimming is fine. You shoud not wax, tweese or thread hair between your treatments. These methods remove hair from the follicle so it will not yet grow back and be present at the time of your next laser hair removal appointment therefore those hair follicles will not be treated with laser. We do not recommend to use depilatory creams since they can irritate the skin. Q: Does laser hair removal create or treat ingrown hairs? A: The laser will not create ingrown hair. If you suffer from it the laser will produce an effective treatment to clear the ingrown hair. Q: Are the Results Permanent? A: The LightSheer™ laser has been cleared by the FDA for hair removal and permanent hair reduction on all skin types and tanned skin. To achieve a satisfactory level of clearance 4-6 treatments are typically required. Q: Does the LightSheer™ work on different skin colors? Q: What advantages does the LightSheer™ have over other laser hair removal systems? A: The LightSheer™ Diode Laser System was designed from the ground up for laser hair removal, so it has the wavelength, fluence, pulse width, and active epidermal cooling system — the ChillTip ideally suited for laser hair removal. A: IPL for hair removal is not proven to produce permanent results and requires significantly more treatments than Laser hair removal. Unique cooling system of Light Sheer™ laser makes it also superior in terms of skin safety and client comfort during the laser hair removal treatment (most IPL machines do not have epidermal cooling which makes hair removal more painful and less safe for the skin). Q: Is the Lightsheer™ Diode FDA approved? |
