Electrolysis or Laser?
Since laser hair removal is efficient and cost-effective and very fast to accomplish large body parts it has become favourite both among clients and practitioners. However, there are cases when laser treatments are not recommended:
- White/grey, blond or reddish hair does not contain enough pigment (melanin) and therefore does not absorb laser light sufficiently to achieve a desired level of hair removal.
- Very fine "peach fuzz" type of hair is too fine and also can not absorb sufficient amount of laser light for effective removal.
- When the skin is too dark so it is almost the same colour as the hair - there is an increased potential for the skin to also absorb laser light and be damaged - so the treatment may not be advisable.
- Certain areas are not to be treated with laser at all - such as eyebrows due to its close proximity to the eyes and therefore making laser treatments unsafe.
